Comedian Trevor Noah has received an Emmy nomination for his Netflix special “Trevor Noah: I Wish You Would” in the Outstanding Variety Special category. Noah shared the exciting news with his followers on Twitter.

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah Also Receives Emmy Nods

In addition to his personal nomination, “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah” also received Emmy nods for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series and Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming. Trevor Noah made history when he became the first comedian to win the prestigious Erasmus Prize in nearly 60 years. Before him, the only comic to win the prize was Charlie Chaplin in 1965. Noah was also the first South African to win the prize.

Noah Awarded for Contribution to “In Praise of Folly”

The foundation awarded Noah the prize for his inspired contribution to the theme “In Praise of Folly,” named after Erasmus’s most famous book filled with humor, social criticism, and political satire. The jury praised Noah’s sharp-minded, mocking yet inclusive political comedy as upholding the “Erasmian Spirit.”
