Trevor Noah Lands A Prestigious Hosting Gig After Leaving The Daily Show

Trevor Noah, a comedian from South Africa, has a new hosting job with Amazon Prime called “LOL: Last One Laughing.”

This will be the first South African original series on Amazon Prime and will premiere in South Africa and other countries in early 2024.

Trevor Noah, an internationally known comedian, will be the host of this unscripted six-part comedy series. Ten famous South African comedians will compete for a grand prize of R1 million that will be donated to a South African charity of the winner’s choice.

According to Variety, the contestants will try to make each other laugh while keeping a straight face. This type of competition show has been made in over 20 countries with well-known hosts such as Rebel Wilson from Australia and Eugenio Derbez from Mexico.

Prime Video created the popular comedy franchise, and versions of the show have been nominated for Emmy awards in Germany and Australia. The show is an adaptation of the successful comedy franchise created by Prime Video, with the first “LOL: Last One Laughing Nigeria” hosted by Nigerian comedian Basketmouth.

The comedian recently left his job as host of The Daily Show after seven years on the job. In his goodbye speech, he said that it was time to move on and give other people a chance. He also had become fans’ favourite host of prestigious Awards shows like the Grammys and the Oscars.
