Three Suspects In AKA Murder Case Walk Free As Charges Are Dropped

Three suspects who were reportedly linked to the killing of AKA’s friend, Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane, have been released, and charges against them have been withdrawn.

According to Annelene van den Heever, the advocate representing the suspects, three of the four were released in the middle of the night on Wednesday and have since gone into hiding due to safety concerns.

“The three suspects who were released by the police have gone into hiding. This is because there have been threats to their lives,” she said.

Annelene van den Heever, the lawyer renowned for her representation of the embattled self-proclaimed Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, has strongly criticized the police for the illegal detention of her clients and their failure to present them in court on Wednesday.

According to her, her clients had only been granted access to legal counsel for the first time on that same day.

“Police have leaked information about them being arrested for AKA’s murder, but they are saying nothing to us. My clients don’t know what is going on,” she was quoted as saying.

Despite initial reports claiming that five suspects had been arrested in relation to the murder of AKA and Tibz, it has been revealed that only four people were taken into custody.

Of the four suspects, one was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday on a carjacking charge in the Durban magistrate’s court.

Police On The Release Of AKA’s Alleged Killers

Despite rumors circulating in the media, the police maintain that no arrests have been made in connection to the shooting incident involving AKA and Tibz.

Sources in KwaZulu-Natal have also disclosed that the men taken into custody have not been linked to the murders but are being investigated for other crimes.

In response to the circulating rumors, KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda has urged the media to refrain from spreading unverified reports concerning the ongoing investigations into the murder of AKA.
