Socialite and DJ Sithelo Shozi and Royal AM chair Andile Mpisane were embroiled in a legal battle over their child in the Point Family Court on Monday. Shozi, who is the mother of Mpisane’s two children, claimed that she had been fighting for custody of their child since March last year. The couple had a daughter together, who is now three years old.

Accusations of illegal custody and abduction

According to TshisaLIVE, Shozi accused Mpisane and his mother Shauwn Mkhize of not returning their daughter to her after a visit. She alleged that the Mpisanes were keeping the child illegally. In January, Mpisanes’ lawyer, Ntsako Godi, denied the allegations and stated that they would oppose Shozi’s application for custody. He further clarified that the child was never abducted and had been raised in the house of MaMkhize and Andile since birth.

Tearful Shozi faces stoic Mpisane in court

During Monday’s court hearing, Shozi reportedly shed tears, while Mpisane appeared stoic and unbothered. The case involves discussions around the custody of their children. According to a source who spoke to TimesLIVE, the pair conversed in private during a recess under the supervision of their lawyers. One of the lawyers allegedly said, “all my client wants is the child.”
