Miss South Africa 2023: Married Women Can Now Compete for the Crown

The Miss South Africa Organization has opened its nationwide search for the next dynamic woman to represent the country on the international stage as Miss South Africa 2023. This year, one of the most notable changes to the competition is that married women can now compete for the crown. The organization has changed the rules, making it possible for all women, regardless of their marital status, to participate in the pageant.

All Women Are Welcome

Whether an entrant is straight, trans, queer, large, small, short, tall, married, engaged, with or without children, she is now eligible to enter Miss South Africa 2023. The organization believes that the competition should showcase the multi-diverse nature of women and be inclusive of everyone.

The Miss South Africa competition has been through many changes throughout the years to keep up with changing times and remain relevant and fresh. The organization is known globally as a pageant disruptor, constantly shifting the goalposts and making the competition more diverse and inclusive.

Crown Chasers: A Groundbreaking Reality Show

The competition will feature a new ground-breaking seven-part TV series called Crown Chasers. The thrilling reality show will provide viewers with a unique look into the Miss South Africa competition. The finalists will be placed in real-life Miss South Africa scenarios that include several challenges based on the four pillars of Miss South Africa: duty, championship, empowerment, and beauty.

All finalists will move into Miss South Africa HQ, where they will be given tasks that test their ability to interpret the four pillars. Their entrepreneurial and business skills will be put to the test as they are asked to find innovative ways to encourage tourism, show support for female-owned businesses, or showcase aspects of their culture or heritage. A challenge winner will be selected each week by a judging panel. The series will culminate with the live pageant finale where the winner will be crowned.

A Game Changer for South African Women

Stephanie Weil, CEO of the Miss South Africa Organization, says, “This is a game changer for South African women, and it’s a bonus for us as an organization as it means we have a much larger pool of women eligible to enter.” Weil adds, “Miss South Africa is no longer just a one-night pageant – viewers are really going to get to know the finalists during the television show.”

Entry Process Made Easy

The Miss South Africa Organization aims to make the entry process as simple as possible. There are no forms to download, and there are no regional auditions that hopefuls must attend. Entrants need to post an introduction video on social media, using #MissSA2023 and tagging Miss South Africa and Crown Chasers on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter. Those who wish to enter can enter on the Miss SA App (under the ENTER NOW page) or visit www.misssa.co.za, answer a few questions, upload entry pictures (one head and shoulders and one full-body image), and provide the link to their entry video.

The nationwide search for Miss South Africa 2023 closes at 11h30 on Friday, May 5, 2023.
