Renowned multi-millionaire Shauwn Mkhize, fondly known as MaMkhize, is currently facing a storm of financial difficulties. After officials from the South African Revenue Service (SARS) reportedly descended on her opulent La Lucia residence due to outstanding taxes, the dynamic business magnate is dominating the headlines.
Court Showdown over Tax Evasion Allegations
According to Sunday World, the owner of Royal AM finds herself entangled in tax woes amounting to more than R12.7 million. MaMkhize has allegedly been evading taxes for an extended period and has been engaged in a legal battle with SARS.
The court confrontation has resulted in SARS securing a civil judgment and a writ of execution against MaMkhize. This empowers the court sheriff to seize movable assets belonging to the multi-millionaire.
A statement from the circulated court order judgment reads: “Whereas the execution creditor/plaintiff obtained judgment on 21 August 2023 against the execution debtor/defendant for payment of the sum of R12 749 232.62.”
The judgment further instructs: “Now, therefore, you are directed to attach and remove the movable property of Mabongi Flora Junior Mkhize.”
A History of Tax Troubles
This is not the first instance where MaMkhize has grappled with tax issues. Over the years, she has repeatedly made headlines for tax-related controversies.
In 2020, SARS obtained a liquidation order against MaMkhize’s Zithuluse Cleaning, Maintenance and Transport, which owed approximately R204 million in unpaid taxes. This case dates back to 2016.
Recent reports indicate financial distress in her club. According to Sunday World, Royal AM is facing financial challenges, struggling to meet player salaries on time. It has been suggested, though not confirmed, that this has been an ongoing issue for several months.
