Entertainment commentator Musa Khawula faces a legal challenge as Shumani “Masala” Lawrence Mulaudzi, alleged boyfriend of award-winning singer Makhadzi, files a defamation of character lawsuit against him. The lawsuit is based on Khawula’s characterization of Mulaudzi as a “dangerous thug” on the X platform, leading to legal action from someone outside the media and showbiz sphere.

Khawula Accused of Crossing the Line

Khawula is accused of associating Mulaudzi with the Thohoyandou gang, Tshisole. On December 29, Khawula published a blog post labeling Mulaudzi as Makhadzi’s alleged dangerous boyfriend, claiming his affiliation with the Tshisole thug group in Venda. The post also suggested the group’s control over a location called Jerusalem and reported a recent fatal shooting of a member named Target during a meeting.

Lawrence Mulaudzi initiates Legal Action against Musa Khawula

Upon discovering the post, Mulaudzi swiftly enlisted his legal representatives to take action against Khawula. The “extremely urgent” letter of demand, dated December 30, 2023, accuses Khawula of intentionally and unlawfully broadcasting defamatory statements on X. Mulaudzi not only demands a public apology within 48 hours but also initiates a criminal case against the blogger, filed at Camps Bay police station in Cape Town.

“It is our client’s contention that on or about December 29, 2023, at approximately 14:43, on X (formerly Twitter), you intentionally and unlawfully broadcasted and published misleading and defamatory statements concerning our client. You caused the publication of defamatory statements.”
