“Is He Coming Back?”: Lynn Forbes Recalls Heartbreaking Moment Of Breaking News Of AKA’s Death To Kairo

AKA’s mother, Lynn Forbes, has shared about the challenging experience of informing her granddaughter, Kairo, about her father’s heartbreaking demise.

Lynn Forbes recently spoke on eNCA’s News Night about the aftermath of her son’s tragic murder.

AKA, whose real name was Kiernan Forbes, was fatally shot by unknown gunmen outside a restaurant in Durban over two months ago, and despite ongoing investigations, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

Lynn Forbes recently gave an exclusive interview where she talked about the initial reactions of AKA’s immediate family after learning of his tragic passing.

However, the most difficult and heartbreaking part of the experience for her was breaking the news to AKA’s daughter, Kairo.

Lynn disclosed that she was given the difficult task of telling Kairo about her father’s death the morning after it occurred.

She said:

“I told her that we have some really sad news…Your dad died”.

Kairo then asked Lynn what had happened to her father. Lynn continued:

“I said some bad people hurt him….they shot him. She cried terribly”.

After having some time to process the information, Lynn Forbes mentioned that Kairo asked her a devastating question.

“She asked: ‘But, he’s coming back, right? He will be ok’. And I had to tell her, ‘No, he’s not coming back, and we have to bury him.’

Lynn added that AKA’s final goodbye to Kairo was just as heartwrenching.

“He said, ‘I’m going to miss you so much. I want you to know that daddy loves you’”.

In a recent interview with You Magazine, Lynn disclosed another heartbreaking statement made by Kairo.

After AKA’s untimely passing, the family chose to clear some belongings from his residence. During this process, Kairo made a poignant remark that left an impression.

Lynn shared:

“When we packed his things away, she [Kairo] asked me why we were putting all his awards in boxes because her daddy wouldn’t like that.

“She said, ‘We need to take them out and put them somewhere else where we can see them. You know daddy likes to show off his things, so we can’t put them away’.”
