Actress Vele Manenje, who shared a close bond with Mpho Sebeng, delivered a touching tribute during his memorial service at Joburg Theatre on Thursday, May 9. According to Zimoja, Manenje referred to Sebeng as her brother, best friend, and her daughter’s godfather.

“I am the adopted daughter of Nomsa Sebeng, Bra Joe. The adopted sister to Lebogang and the entire family. He became my brother from another mother,” Manenje shared.

She recounted their meeting while auditioning for roles in “Queen Of Katwe” and fondly recalled the best years of his life spent with her. “I danced and sang with my heart open and my soul open. I now trust because you trusted me with your life,” she concluded her tribute with a traditional Tshivenda bow.
