Nthabiseng Mokete’s statement, dated 27 October 2014, reveals that she arrived at the Khumalo house on the day after Meyiwa was murdered, only to discover his lifeless body in Kelly’s vehicle. Mokete states that upon her arrival, Meyiwa was rushed to the hospital’s casualty department, but unfortunately, the doctor pronounced him dead after a few minutes.

Zandie Khumalo’s Contrasting Testimony at Senzo Meyiwa Trial

Contrary to the neighbour’s account, Kelly’s sister Zandie Khumalo, who was present at the Vosloorus house during the incident, testified that Meyiwa was killed by two intruders who broke into the house and robbed them. Zandie recounted how she was with Meyiwa in the car, sitting behind the driver’s seat, alongside Mthokozisi and Tumelo while Kelly was driving them to Botshelong Hospital.

Zandie emotionally described her attempts to keep Meyiwa conscious during the drive, saying she noticed his eyes were wide open, but he was unresponsive. She tried to comfort him and urged him to hold on until they reached the hospital. However, Meyiwa’s condition deteriorated, and they rushed him into the emergency area upon arriving at the hospital.

Unfortunately, Zandie and her family were denied access to the room where Meyiwa was being examined. They anxiously waited for news, and when Zandie’s mother emerged in tears, they learned the devastating truth – Senzo Meyiwa had passed away.
