Gospel singer Sechaba Pali’s life took a devastating turn when he miraculously survived a harrowing accident on Sunday, September 10, 2023, but tragically lost his beloved wife, Nompilo Shabangu, in the process.
The Fatal Incident
Sechaba Pali and his wife, Nompilo Shabangu, had attended an event in Welkom on that fateful Sunday. Nompilo was behind the wheel as they headed home after the event. According to reports by TshisaLIVE, while driving near the Boitumelo Junction, Nompilo attempted to overtake a taxi.
In a heartbreaking twist of events, Nompilo lost control of their BMW vehicle, causing it to veer off the road. Tragically, Nompilo was ejected from the car during the accident, resulting in her untimely death. Sechaba, though fortunate to survive, sustained minor injuries.
A Community’s Response
Community members who witnessed the accident rushed to the scene and provided assistance to the gospel musician. The incident was captured on video and shared on Twitter. Two ambulances arrived promptly to transport Sechaba and his late wife to the appropriate medical facilities.

Sechaba Pali is currently grappling with the profound loss of his beloved wife, Nompilo. In a poignant interview with TshisaLIVE, he shared his emotional turmoil and said, “I don’t know how to explain to my children that I left with their mother, but she will not be coming back with me. I am heartbroken.”
Sechaba continued to express his grief, highlighting Nompilo’s remarkable qualities, “Mpilo was an amazing singer. She was a great mother, and I am heartbroken. I lost the mother of my child. Mpilo was a giving woman of God. A few minutes before the accident, she gave some kids who were hungry R200 for food.”
In a candid conversation with Zimoja, Sechaba disclosed that he had a premonition about the trip, saying, “It was my son’s birthday. I wanted to spend time with my son and daughter, but Nompilo insisted we go because she felt we hardly get to spend time alone without the kids. I told her that something was off, but she begged me that we go.”
As Sechaba Pali mourns the loss of his wife, the gospel community and fans alike join in offering their condolences and support during this trying time.
