Gomora Cancelled By Mzansi Magic And To End With Season Four

South African viewers will soon say goodbye to the most-watched and popular telenovela, Gomora. Mzansi Magic announced that the show’s fourth season will be its last, airing its first episode on 24 April 2023, with the final episode on 20 October 2023. The decision came as M-Net strives to keep up with the changing viewer preferences of its audience.

The show, which broke viewership records just a month after it premiered on the channel almost three years ago, follows the lives of two families whose worlds collide. The Gomora storyline revolves around the theme of inequality, showcasing the fine line between the rich and the poor.

Leanne Khumalo, Executive Producer of the show, says Gomora has always been a show that transcended the screen. The crew and cast formed a special bond during this time, and the power dynamic they shared on-screen was experienced by the viewers.

What to Expect

Gomora fans can expect an intense emotional rollercoaster for the show’s final season. The young people of Gomora spiral out of control from self-inflicted pain and generational pain. Sonto’s (Connie Chiume) world is rocked, and she grapples with her emotions after the killing. The absence of Mazet (Siphesihle Ndaba) and Thathi (Katlego Danke) turns the Molefe household upside down throughout the season, and Sonto moves from one desperate act to even more dangerous decisions.

Sibongile (Nandipha Khubone), after surviving the accident, gives birth to her and Scara’s (Wonder Ndlovu) baby at the Zondo household. Unsure whether she can care for her child, Sibongile makes a premature decision with long-term consequences. As Zodwa (Sannah Mchunu) plans her and Bongani’s (Thulani Mtshweni) big day, the joyful, long overdue occasion may just be what the family needs to come together finally.

Nkosinathi (Fezile Makhanya) finds himself in one unfortunate financial situation after another at Zodwa and Bongani’s wedding. A moment of weakness will either make or break his relationship with Gladys (Thembi Seete).

Future Plans for M-net

M-Net has not yet revealed what will replace Gomora in its programming lineup. The channel says it is committed to finding a suitable alternative and will make an announcement soon.
