DJ Zinhle Is Not Ready To Visit Durban As She Pulls Out Of Fact Durban Rocks

Zinhle “DJ Zinhle” Jiyane, a renowned DJ and artist, is currently facing emotional struggles and has made the decision not to visit the city where the father of her child tragically passed away.

Rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes was fatally shot outside a restaurant in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, on February 10, leaving Zinhle and their daughter, Kairo, devastated by the loss.

The Entertainment Hub of July

Durban is set to become a hotspot for the entertainment industry in July, hosting highly anticipated events such as the Cotton Festival and Durban July. Many celebrities are expected to flock to the city to participate in these festivities.

DJ Zinhle is reluctant to travel to Durban

Zinhle was initially scheduled to perform at the Fact Durban Rocks event during Durban July. However, she has expressed her discomfort and stated that she is not emotionally prepared to travel to Durban just yet.

During a recent interview, Zinhle shared, “I cannot lie to you guys, I’m not ready for Durban. Emotionally, I’m not ready at all. I get a little anxious thinking about being in Durban. It’s going to be a while before I can be in Durban.”

Anxiety and Father’s Day

Furthermore, Zinhle mentioned feeling anxious about the upcoming Father’s Day, which will undoubtedly be a challenging occasion for her and her daughter.

She questioned, “What am I going to say to Kairo on Father’s Day?” The pain of losing AKA is still fresh, and Zinhle needs time to heal and navigate this difficult milestone.

Similar Feelings from AKA’s Mother

Lynn Forbes, AKA’s mother, also expressed her need for time before visiting Durban and the location where her son tragically lost his life.

During an interview on Carol Ofori’s show on East Coast Radio, Lynn Forbes shared her perspective, saying, “I don’t believe I would never go back to Durban again. I think it’s natural at the moment. I have no desire to go to Durban at the moment.”

She clarified that her hesitance was not about the city itself or its people. Lynn acknowledged AKA’s love for Durban, as it was where his fan base thrived. She revealed her yearning to visit the spot where her son passed away, stating, “One of the yearnings I have is to stand in the spot where he died, and just be there. I know his soul is not there anymore, and his body is not there anymore, but that is the last place where he was alive.”
