Court Postpones DJ Maphorisa’s Assault Case Again
The assault case involving DJ Maphorisa, whose real name is Sonnyboy Sekowe, has faced another postponement at the Randburg Magistrate court. This marks the second delay in the proceedings, with the next court date scheduled for July 12.
About DJ Maphorisa’s Assault Case
The case stems from allegations made by Thulisile Phongolo, an actress and DJ, who accused Maphorisa of assaulting her during an argument at her residence in Sandton, Johannesburg. Maphorisa was arrested and detained overnight at the Sandton police station following the incident. He was later released on R4,000 bail, under the condition that he has no direct or indirect contact with Phongolo.
Maphorisa’s initial court appearance on June 14 faced a postponement due to the absence of state representatives. Subsequently, the case was rescheduled to the recent court date, only to be postponed again.
According to Sunday World, the DJ requested a withdrawal statement from Phongolo, potentially to hinder the case against him. The statement revealed that the couple had an argument related to a disagreement that occurred during one of Maphorisa’s performances the previous night.
“I confronted him so that we can talk about our argument, which happened the previous night during his gig,” explained Phongolo, who is best known for her role in Generations: The Legacy. She further detailed that Maphorisa responded violently by grabbing her aggressively and forcefully around her neck, even taking her to the balcony during the altercation.
Maphorisa Repossesses Cars from Thuli Phongolo
Following the assault allegations and strained relationship, DJ Maphorisa has reportedly taken back the vehicles he had gifted to Phongolo during their time together. Sources have revealed that immediately after his release from custody, Maphorisa repossessed the Mercedes G Wagon and Porsche that he had purchased for Phongolo.
This latest development showcases the escalating tensions between the two individuals involved in the case, with their relationship taking a turn for the worse.
