Behind Closed Doors| Pictures From AKA’s Private Funeral Ceremony
A private funeral service was held on Saturday at Westpark Cemetery in Johannesburg to bid farewell to the late rapper Kiernan Jarryd “AKA” Forbes, who passed away at the age of 35.
The rapper died on February 10 following a shooting incident while leaving the Wish Restaurant in Durban.
On Friday, a memorial service was held in honor of AKA, and the funeral was planned to take place on Saturday.
Visuals captured on Saturday showed AKA’s friends and family making their way in a convoy towards the rapper’s final resting place.
Since the funeral was a private event, no footage was accessible of the complete procession or the events that occurred after their arrival.
A few pictures and videos were shared on social media, which swiftly circulated as AKA’s supporters tried to catch a glimpse of the occasion.
May his soul rest in peace.
AKA’s family announced a few days ago that they would go ahead with the scheduled release date of the late rapper’s forthcoming album, “Mass Country,” on February 24, 2023.
The family confirmed in a press statement that the album would be released as per AKA’s previous pledge, despite his sudden death.
The full statement read,
“Johannesburg, Thursday, 16th February 2023 – With the nation engulfed with the grief of the tragic untimely passing of Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes, The Forbes family has acknowledged the outpouring of support and love from South Africa and beyond.
