The DAAD scholarships provide monthly payments of 861 euros for graduates or 1,200 euros for doctoral candidates. Additionally, they cover payments towards health, accident, and personal liability insurance, as well as a travel allowance (unless covered by the home country or another funding source).

The duration of the scholarship is 12 to 24 months for Master’s programs and 42 months for PhD programs, depending on the specific institution.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Currently employed by a public authority, state, or private company in a developing country, involved in planning and executing directives and projects related to technological, economic, or social development policies.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related subject, typically with above-average academic performance (upper third).
  • Have at least two years of relevant professional experience after completing the first degree (bachelor) at the time of application.
  • Academic degrees should not be more than six years old.
  • For programs taught in German, applicants must pass the language examination DSH 2 or TestDaF 4 before starting the study course. A minimum German language level of B1 at the time of application is required and needs to be proven with a certificate.
  • For programs taught in English, applicants must provide proof of adequate language skills as per the respective course requirements.
