Actress Thuso Mbedu to judge Miss SA 2023 finale
The Miss South Africa 2023 finale will take place on Sunday 13 August at SunBet Arena at Time Square in Pretoria, and one of the judges will be actress Thuso Mbedu, who is a L’Oréal Paris Sub-Saharan Ambassador.
Thuso Mbedu is a South African-born actress who has made waves internationally with her role as Cora in The Underground Railroad, a series based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Colson Whitehead. She has also received two International Emmy Award nominations for her role as Winnie in Is’Thunzi.
In May, she was announced as a L’Oréal Paris Ambassador and spokesperson for the Sub-Saharan Africa region, joining the likes of Viola Davis, Eva Longoria, and Helen Mirren.

As a judge, Thuso Mbedu will bring her unique perspective and experiences to the competition, encouraging the contestants to embrace their individuality and walk confidently.
L’Oréal Paris said in a press release that Mbedu’s presence will inspire the finalists to focus not only on their external beauty but also on their inner strength and resilience.

Viola Davis welcomes Thuso Mbedu to L’Oréal Paris
When Thuso Mbedu was announced as a L’Oréal Paris Ambassador, she received a warm welcome from American actress Viola Davis, who is also part of the L’Oréal Paris family.
Davis commented on the Instagram post by L’Oréal Paris, saying: “THUSOOOO!!! BEAUTIFUL!!! Welcome to the family!!! Congratulations ❤️❤️❤️.”
